.JIF is an uncommon file format. It is part of the JPEG family of image formats. Below are some definitions for the extension.

A JIF file is a JPEG image file. It is commonly confused with the GIF file, due to a debate regarding the pronunciation of GIF with a G or a J.

A pseudo-extension is a file format that is applied to a file, despite not having a purpose, other than to change the file name (such as PEANUT_BUTTER.JIF) however this file extension is rarely used as a pseudo-extension
