In 2019 almost 5 billion people have a cell phone. I would think most of the people with a cell phone can drive. Texting and driving is extremely dangerous, and stupid. One in four car crashes are caused by texting a driving. Also, 1.6 million crashes happen each year and almost 390,000 injuries happen each year from texting and driving.

Drivers should not use a cell phone while operating a vehicle. Because, you're more likely to get in a crash as it says in this article, "If you text and drive, you're 23 times more likely to have a car crash." and, "Texting while driving has become the number one driving distraction for many people." Another reason why texting and driving is dangerous is "3,166 people were killed by distracted driving in 2017 alone, 8.5 percent of total fatalities for the year."

Repots have that 1.6 million crashes are caused because drivers text and drive. A reason why texting and driving is a dangerous, "Teens were the largest age group reported Teens were the largest age group reported as distracted at the time of fatal crashes, according to the National

Occupant Protection Use Survey." Also, "Texting while driving is 6x more likely to cause an accident than driving drunk."

In conclusion, texting and driving is dangerous and people shouldn't do it. And a lot of people have died just because of their cell phone. People should not use their phone while driving because it puts the person using the phone in danger and the people around them in danger.
