Many computer applications provide some standard editing functions. These functions use the clipboard. to accomplish the task. The clipboard is a special area in the computer memory of the computer used to store data temporarily. The data then can be retrieved for use in other places.
The three basic functions are:
Cut – removes selected text from the Phrase box and places it in the clipboard.
To use the Cut command select the text to be cut and do one of the following:
Press Ctrl+X
Click the Cut icon on the Tool bar
Use the Edit menu.
Open the Edit menu in the Menu bar
Click the Cut option
Windows removes the selected text and places it in the clipboard.
Copy – places a copy of the selected text in the Phrase box and places it in the clipboard. The selected text remains in the Phrase box.
To use the Copy command select the text to be copied and do one of the following:
Press Ctrl+C
Click the Copy icon on the Tool bar
Use the Edit menu.
Open the Edit menu in the Menu bar
Click the Copy option
Windows places a copy of the selected text into the clipboard.
Paste -- places a copy of the text in the clipboard into the Phrase box. The text remains in the clipboard.
To use the Paste command place the cursor in the Phrase box at the desired point and do one of the following:
Press Ctrl+V
Click the Paste icon on the Tool bar
Use the Edit menu.
Open the Edit menu in the Menu bar
Click the Paste option
Windows places the contents of the clipboard at the selected point in the Phrase box.
When you use Cut or Copy to place text into the clipboard, any text already in the clipboard is erased.
