Automatic mode is the normal method used by Adapt It to make adaptations. Adapt It moves the Phrase box through the Main window looking up each source text word or phrase in the knowledge base for a previously made adaptation. If the lookup succeeds, the application inserts the adaptation into the Phrase box and moves to the next target text location. In this way, Adapt It inserts the appropriate adaptation text into each active location and moves on to the next position. The process stops only when:
There is no previous adaptation.
Multiple adaptations are available.
In this case, you have to choose the best adaptation or enter a new one.
You stop it.
The active location reaches the end of the source text document.
The alternative to Automatic mode is Single Step mode. You can alternate between Automatic mode and Single Step mode by checking or unchecking the Automatic mode check box. The difference between the two modes is that in Single Step mode, after the Phrase box has received an adaptation it does not move to the next location. Rather, it remains at that location until you press Enter.
Automatic mode is the default.
Automatic mode is the default mode and is only available in .
The Automatic check box toggles with Single Step mode. Adapt It cannot be in both Automatic mode and Single Step mode at the same time.
You can cause automatic inserting to stop by:
Clicking anywhere in the main window (preferred method)
Clicking the checkbox again
Pressing any key; however, this causes the Phrase box contents to be erased and replaced by character you just typed.
If the Highlight Automatically Inserted Translations checkbox in the View tab of the Preferences dialog is checked, Adapt It applies background highlighting to all the target text cells that have received automatic insertions since the last time the Phrase box paused. This helps you to check visually these adaptations for accuracy.
