To join two or more document into a larger document, do the following:
Open the document that should come first in the joined document.
Joining appends (adds to the end) documents to the open document; therefore, you must open the first document in the series.
Select the Join Documents… option of the Tools menu.
Adapt It displays the Join Document by Appending To The Open Document dialog.
This dialog box is similar to the Remove Unwanted Files from the List dialog.
The left hand list box shows you the name of all the documents currently in the folder except for the currently open document. A document should never be joined to itself.
Move the documents so that the left hand box contains only the documents to be joined. Use one or more of the following steps:
Select an unneeded document and click the red X to move the document to the right hand box
Click the Move All Right >> command button to move all the documents to the right hand box.
In the right hand box, select a document to be joined, and click the green X to move the document the left hand box.
Arrange the documents in the left hand box into the correct order by selecting documents and moving them using the Move Up and Move Down command buttons.
The first document to be joined to the current document should be at the top. The remaining document should be in top down order as to how they should be joined.
If you wish to give the joined document a new name, type it into the text box at the bottom.
If you do not give a name for the joined document, Adapt It uses the name of the open document.
To finish do one of the following:
Click Join Now to perform the join.
Click Close to return to the Main window without performing the join.
Adapt It requires all joined documents to have the same three character document id code. This is normally the case if Book Folder Mode is on.
If book folder mode is not on, you must exercise caution to be sure not to join unrelated documents. For example, do not attempt to join a chapter of John into a document containing Matthew.
