Usually the source text in a project does not need to be changed. However, circumstances can arise where editing of the source text becomes necessary. For example, when the source text is unpublished may need revisions, or if the source text has come from the exported target text of another adaptation project.
Adapt It provides a command to open a dialog box enabling you to edit the source text.
To edit the source text:
Select the desired source text. See Selecting source text.
Do one of the following:
Press Ctrl+Q
In the Edit menu, select Edit source text
Adapt It opens the Edit Source Text dialog.
Make any changes to the selected text in the text box.
If the selected source text contains standard format markers that need to be changed, click the I want to add, remove, or change standard format markers in the new source text checkbox.
Click OK.
LATE UPDATE: Source Text Editing has been significantly simplified in Version 4.x.x of Adapt It, so disregard the following point and Warnings!
If the checkbox is marked, Adapt It displays the dialog.
If the checkbox is not marked, Adapt It saves the changes in the source text and closes the dialog.
The presence of filtered information in the document may prevent editing of source text. This can occur when a marker for a free translation, back translation, or other filtered material is included in the selected text. To avoid problems, you should try to do all editing to source text before you add any of these extensions to a document.
Currently this dialog box does not support the end markers that are used in the USFM marker set. This problem will be addressed in future releases.
The Current target language translation text box contains the source text
The changes to the source text are made only in the Adapt It document and are not applied to the original file used to create the document. If you wish to update the source text file, first make all of the source text editing changes and then export the source text as a standard format file.
