Adapt has the capability to work with other translation applications. This capacity means that you have the option to use other tools (applications) along with Adapt It in your translation projects. This option means that you can take advantage of the strengths of each tool to speed the process and create the produce an excellent final product.
Adapt It has always had the capability to use Consistent Changes and SIL Converters. With the release of version 6.0 and higher, Adapt It now has the capability to work with Paratext and Bibledit. These applications have strong capabilites to prepare transactions for publication thus adding to the capabilities of Adapt It.
The collaboration process for Paratext (PT) and Bibledit (BE) is different than that of Consistent Changes and SIL Converters. With the latter two applications, the change is embedded with Adapt It and works as part of the adaptation process. Paratext and Bibledit operate outside of Adapt It. The following diagram shows the interaction.

The collaboration process works like this:
The source document is prepared in a PT or BE project.
The user establishes the links between Adapt It and the source project and a target project in PT or BE.
The user opens the adaptation process in Adapt It. Adapt It then:
Reads in the source text from the Source project
Makes user adaptations in the normal manner
When the session is concluded, stores the results of the adaptations into the target project.
When the adaptation project is complete, the user prepares the translation for publication using PT or BE.
